Climate-resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Community Life in The Haor Region of Bangladesh
Under the project titled “Climate-resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Community Life in the Haor Region of Bangladesh”, funded by the German development organization GIZ and supported by PKSF, implementation activities are underway in three selected unions of the Haor area in Jamalganj Upazila, Sunamganj district.
To protect the homesteads of the ultra-poor households in the project area from sudden erosion and to ensure safe storage of their harvested paddy and other crops—thereby improving their living standards—the following activities are being implemented in the fiscal year 2024–2025:
(a) Construction of CC block revetment and embankment protection walls,
(b) Greening and stabilization of the constructed walls by planting local tree species to enhance their durability, and
(c) Raising the yard level of community common spaces for crop threshing and drying.
So far, about 60% of the work has been completed. Approximately 550 beneficiaries are covered under this project.
